Advancing Our Vision

For those who have been valued Oakwood members since 2018, you may remember our Spreading Our Roots campaign to build the Liberal Arts Center, the Athletic Center, and eventually, a Playfield.

We are excited to announce the next phase of our Spreading Our Roots campaign, following several productive and transformative years. Oakwood flourished during the pandemic while many schools faced significant challenges. Our strategic investments in facilities, including the completion of the Gwendolyn Riches Liberal Arts Center and the Athletic Center, allowed us to safely bring students back to campus.

However, our work is far from finished. Our community has actively contributed to shaping our future through their thoughtful participation. Our longstanding goal is to build on our school's rich traditions and honor the those that have enjoyed all that an Oakwood education has to offer.

The success of Spreading Our Roots: The Field Fund is essential to achieving this goal. The initial phase involves renovating the multi-use playfield adjacent to the playground blacktop behind the Liberal Arts Center. Funds raised from our recent Annual Fund, Auction, and Fund Run campaigns will be utilized to complete this important project and work will begin in the coming weeks. The second phase will focus on the long-awaited completion of the large soccer and track field located on the north end of campus beyond the parking lot and tennis courts.

There is a significant amount of work ahead, but we approach it from a position of strength. Our programs and the people who drive them have never been stronger. Our reputation is stellar, and the support from our families, alumni, alumni parents, grandparents, and the broader community is both enthusiastic and generous.

We invite you to join us in this exciting endeavor as we continue to spread our roots and build a brighter future for Oakwood.

Looking Forward

Hear from our video creator, Tegan Leong, MS '19:

"It began with a video essay for Ms. Hare’s history class in 8th grade. As a serial hobbyist and recent fan of whiteboard speed-drawing, my only option was to learn video production.

This video was part of my portfolio for the Orange County School of the Arts. Four years of high school later, I graduated from their Integrated Arts conservatory down in Southern California. The work ethic instilled in me through Oakwood proved powerful during this time, especially in managing our intensive 9-5 academics and arts schedule.

I am still a serial hobbyist. I plan to continue applying the arts - an underutilized, essential form of communication - to whatever I can at UC Davis. To the kind staff and my driven peers whom I’ve met along the way, thank you for giving me these means to explore."
